Pipe lining / Pipe pulling
Pipe lining processes applied by Sycons Kft. are used to restore water tightness of gravitational sewers, and eventually increase their load-bearing capacity maintaining the original path, with a smaller diameter.
Onsite pipe lining using PVC profiles
Without demolishing the surface, from the existing manholes of at least 100 cm of inner diameter, a pipe lining with a minimum of section decrease, but having more favorable hydraulic parameters can be performed.
PVC lining is made on-site by winding of a special plastic band with ribbed profile, using a winding machine installed in the sewer manhole. Profiles are connected by adhesive bonding.
This process is able to provide very quickly considerable lengths of watertight, chemical resistant lining. The small space between the lining and the original sewer pipe are filled with injected foam concrete or foam cement, which process ensures the stabilization of the desired position of the lining, and provides its circular support. During the injection process, possible gaps are also filled around the damaged sewer, which helps to prevent the eventual latter road surface subsidence. Using injection, lining can touch the damaged existing pipe either at the pipe invert level or at the top level, furthermore, the depth of the detected subsidence locations of the sewer to be rehabilitated can also be slightly decreased.
Until the present date, we executed successfully more than 17.000m of Ø200-Ø800 mm sewer rehabilitation using this method.
The eventually decreased load bearing capacity of the sewer to be rehabilitated by on-site wound and externally injected PVC lining can be slightly increased.
Pipe pulling
If, during the sewer reconstruction project, the hydraulic conditions do not necessitate to apply the same or a larger diameter, and at the same time, load bearing capacity of the damaged pipe is not sufficient any more, we recommend the pipe pulling technology, allowing the installation of a new pipe with high load bearing capacity.
This technology can also be applied to rehabilitate water pressure pipes.
Pipe pulling is a process which allows the rehabilitation of circular pipe sections with reduced delivery rate or load-bearing, or containing slightly broken sections, without requiring open trench.
Two shafts are necessary, located at the two ends of the drive, which, in case of short pipe pulling process, can even be manholes of at least 100 cm of inner diameter. Through these manholes, the lining can be started by the cleaning of the old pipeline.
We can use short pipes or flexible pipes delivered in rolls for lining by pulling, in function of the diameter to be rehabilitated, the jobsite conditions and the new pipe material to be installed.
Short pipes are connected with hidden sockets and using double rubber ring. This version is used to rehabilitate gravitational pipelines. The short pipes are usually made of HDPE or KG-PVC.
In case of pressurized pipelines, HDPE pipes are used, and in this case pipes are joined by butt-welding.
The space between the two pipes in injected.
Application of the pipe lining technology has no impact on the environment, and its execution is not weather-dependent, it can be performed in winter too. This process is significantly quicker and more cost effective than the traditional open trench rehabilitation techniques.
